Wallace State Splits Four-Game Series with Northwest-Shoals, Turns Focus to ACCC Tournament
HANCEVILLE — Wallace State closed out the regular season with a four-game split against Northwest-Shoals, earning a win in each doubleheader on April 30 and May 2. The Lions finished the regular season 31-24 overall and 20-16 in conference play.
April 30 — Game 1: Wallace State 7, Northwest-Shoals 1
Wallace State opened the road doubleheader with a 7-1 victory behind a strong outing from Baylen Tuten, who worked seven innings, allowing one run on five hits with three strikeouts.
At the plate, Aiden Boileau recorded two hits and two RBIs, while Jackson Rickett added two hits and an RBI, including a triple. Clint Seymore contributed two hits and an RBI, and Cooper Clemmons drove in two runs as part of the Lions' eight-hit performance.
April 30 — Game 2: Northwest-Shoals 14, Wallace State 13
The nightcap turned into a high-scoring contest, with Wallace State totaling 13 runs on 18 hits but falling 14-13.
Boileau led the offense with four hits and two RBIs. Seymore added three hits and two RBIs, while Clemmons drove in four runs. Tucker Rickman also homered and drove in two runs, and Carson Burdette finished with three hits and an RBI.
May 2 — Game 1: Northwest-Shoals 2, Wallace State 1
In the home doubleheader opener, Wallace State was limited to one run despite nine hits in a 2-1 loss.
Carter Cumming and Connor Elmore each recorded two hits, while Tucker Rickman added two hits and scored the Lions' lone run. Sam Vincent went the distance on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts over seven innings.
May 2 — Game 2: Wallace State 6, Northwest-Shoals 5
Wallace State closed the series with a 6-5 win, scoring twice in the seventh and once in the eighth to secure the victory.
Jackson Rickett and Carter Cumming each had two hits and scored a run. Dyris Martinez added two hits, while Carson Burdette drove in two runs. Connor Elmore also contributed an RBI.
On the mound, Rhys Klein earned the win in relief, striking out two over 2.2 innings. Eli Cannon and Ryan Everly combined to work the remaining innings, limiting Northwest-Shoals to five runs.

Wallace State advances to the ACCC Baseball Championships, which begin Thursday at Choccolocco Park in Oxford. The Lions enter as the No. 3 seed and will face Northwest-Shoals in Game 2 at 4:00 p.m.
