Lyndie Jane Springer is a freshman defensive specialist and libero from Hartselle, Alabama, and a 2026 graduate of Hartselle High School. Springer began playing volleyball in the seventh grade as a member of her high school team.

One of her favorite high school athletic memories was helping Hartselle advance to the Elite Eight during her senior season. The achievement was especially meaningful because she was able to share the experience with some of her closest friends and teammates.

“Making it to the Elite Eight my senior year with my favorite people was something I will always remember,” Springer said.

Springer chose Wallace State because of the volleyball program’s tradition of success, the opportunity to compete at a level that matches her abilities and the convenience of remaining close to home.

“Wallace is a successful program that matches my ability, and it is close to home,” Springer said.

She credits Melissa Paul Gardner with having the greatest impact on her athletic journey. Gardner’s influence and support helped Springer develop as a player and continue pursuing her goals.

Springer’s proudest moment as a Wallace State athlete so far has been the way she performed during the fall season. She was also encouraged by the positive feedback she received from head coach Randy Daniel during her postseason spring meeting.

“I was very proud of how I played during the fall season and of the good things Coach Daniel said about me during my post-spring meeting,” Springer said.

College athletics has taught Springer that competing at the next level requires a different type of commitment from anything she has experienced before.

“It requires unmatched determination,” Springer said.

She balances volleyball and academics by creating a schedule based around practices and matches. Springer sets aside specific times to complete assignments and remain on top of her schoolwork.

Her team goals include helping Wallace State win a conference championship and developing outstanding chemistry with her teammates.

“I want to help lead my team to a conference championship,” Springer said. “I also hope we have the best chemistry of any team.”

Her favorite practice activity is an around-the-world serving game because it combines competition with an opportunity to improve serving accuracy and consistency.

Springer also follows a unique superstition involving her game attire. When she plays well while wearing a certain brand of spandex, she continues wearing that brand until she has a poor match. She then changes brands in hopes of changing her luck.

Her go-to hype song is “Lord Knows” by Drake.

Springer mentally prepares for competition by reminding herself to trust the work she has already put in.

“Trust your training has always been something that keeps me focused during games,” Springer said.

She believes her teammates would describe her as someone with a good attitude who is upbeat, kind and enjoyable to be around.

Had she not chosen volleyball, Springer said she would likely play basketball or softball.

Her favorite professional volleyball player is Lainey Choboy.

A unique fact about Springer is that she was allowed to choose and change her own middle name.

Outside volleyball, Springer enjoys building Legos, playing pickleball and participating in water sports such as wakeboarding and surfing.

After college, she hopes to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist and would like to work specifically with children.

During her time at Wallace State, Springer wants to be remembered as a kind player who brought a fun and positive attitude to the volleyball program.

“I hope to be remembered as the kindest volleyball player with the most fun attitude,” Springer said.

Her advice to younger athletes is to never lose sight of why they began playing.

“Sports are supposed to be fun,” Springer said.
