Bio

Position: Middle Blocker
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Seale, Alabama
High School: Glenwood School
High School Graduation: 2026

Madalynn Grace Moody is a freshman middle blocker from Seale, Alabama, and a 2026 graduate of Glenwood School. Moody began playing volleyball in the seventh grade and continued developing her skills throughout her high school career.

One of her favorite high school athletic memories was competing against Glenwood’s rival, Lee-Scott Academy. The intensity of the matchup and the opportunity to compete alongside her teammates made the game especially memorable.

Moody’s path to Wallace State began when she received an invitation to visit the college. After seeing the campus and volleyball program and learning more about the school, she felt Wallace State would be a good fit. She also received a volleyball scholarship, allowing her to continue her academic and athletic career with the Lions.

“I saw the volleyball program and the school, and I liked what I saw and heard,” Moody said.

She credits her mother and her faith in God with having the greatest impact on her athletic journey. Their guidance and support have helped her overcome challenges and continue pursuing her goals.

Her proudest moment as a Wallace State athlete so far was being accepted into the college and earning a place in the volleyball program.

College athletics has taught Moody to continue working hard even when circumstances become difficult.

“You should always work hard, no matter how hard times get,” Moody said.

Moody balances academics and athletics by giving consistent effort in both areas. She followed that approach in high school and believes her hard work helped her succeed in the classroom and on the court.

Her primary personal goal is to become the best teammate she can be and provide excellence to the Wallace State program. She wants to contribute through her play, attitude and support of those around her.

Moody’s favorite practice activity is six-on-six competition because it provides realistic game situations and gives players an opportunity to work together as a team.

Before matches, Moody listens to music to become focused and ready to compete. Her go-to hype songs are “Can’t Hold Us” and “No Hands.”

She mentally prepares by listening to music and blocking out outside thoughts so she can concentrate completely on the match.

Moody believes her teammates would describe her as someone who brings energy and spirit to the group. During high school, she received the Most Gator Spirit award, recognizing her enthusiasm and support for others.

Had she not chosen volleyball, Moody said she would likely play softball.

Her favorite professional athlete is Michael Jordan because of the many ways he has inspired her.

A fun fact about Moody is that she makes an effort to cheer up the people around her, even when she may be having a difficult day herself.

Outside volleyball, she enjoys watching movies, drawing and spending time outdoors with her siblings.

After college, Moody plans to pursue a career in civil engineering.

During her time at Wallace State, she hopes to be remembered as a great blocker who worked hard and consistently helped her team.

Her advice to younger athletes is to continue working even when their goals seem out of reach.

“Work hard, even when you think nothing is going to work out in the end,” Moody said.
