Raegan Lee is a freshman defensive specialist and libero from Jefferson, Georgia, and a 2026 graduate of Jefferson High School. Lee began playing volleyball in the sixth grade and developed into a competitive and disciplined defensive player.

One of her favorite high school athletic memories was helping Jefferson win a state championship. The accomplishment gave Lee an opportunity to celebrate the ultimate team achievement with her coaches and teammates.

Lee chose Wallace State because of the college’s child education program and the welcoming atmosphere surrounding the volleyball team. She was also impressed by the coaching staff and quickly formed close relationships with her future teammates.

“Wallace provided a child education major, which was a big thing for me,” Lee said. “I also liked the atmosphere with the coaches and teammates, and I’ve already gotten so close with them.”

She credits her parents with having the greatest impact on her athletic journey. Their guidance, encouragement and support helped her develop as a player and earn the opportunity to compete at the college level.

Lee’s proudest moment as a Wallace State athlete so far was signing to become a Lion.

College athletics has already reinforced the importance of discipline and gratitude. Lee understands that playing college volleyball is a privilege and believes athletes should approach every practice, match and workout with commitment.

“Always be disciplined and remember that it is a privilege to play college volleyball,” Lee said.

She balances academics and athletics by giving her best effort in the classroom and on the court. Lee avoids procrastinating and focuses on completing her responsibilities, even on difficult days when motivation may be harder to find.

Her primary team goal is for the Lions to become a unified group that competes with confidence, holds one another accountable and dominates opponents. Personally, Lee wants to give her best effort every day, remain unselfish and fight for her teammates during practices and matches.

“I want us to be a unit this season and hold one another accountable to get the job done,” Lee said. “My personal goal is to give my all, even on my worst days, never be selfish and always fight for my teammates.”

Lee’s favorite workout is the Russian twist with a medicine ball. Her favorite volleyball drills are the pit drill and servers-versus-receivers because they challenge her defensive skills, communication and competitiveness.

Before matches, Lee listens to music to become focused and ready to play. Her go-to hype song is “The Champion” by Carrie Underwood featuring Ludacris.

Lee mentally prepares for competition by spending time quietly with her thoughts. She reminds herself that mistakes are part of volleyball and that her responsibility is to compete with maximum effort and maintain a positive attitude.

“There are going to be mistakes because it’s a game to 25,” Lee said. “All I can do is give my best effort and have a positive attitude.”

She believes her teammates would describe her as funny, competitive, disciplined and kind.

Had she not chosen volleyball, Lee said she would likely compete in track.

Her favorite volleyball player is Laney Choboy. Lee admires Choboy’s speed, intensity and defensive ability.

“She is fierce and fast on her feet,” Lee said. “I strive to be quick, scrappy and controlled just like her.”

A fun fact about Lee is that she can play the flute.

Outside volleyball, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking walks and traveling.

After college, Lee hopes to become the best special education teacher she can be. She also dreams of getting married, having children, owning two dogs and a cat and enjoying life to the fullest.

During her time at Wallace State, Lee hopes to be remembered as someone who was compassionate and passionate about everything she did.

Her advice to younger athletes is to work hard while remembering that their identity extends beyond athletics.

“Train hard, play hard and work hard, but enjoy life outside of your sport,” Lee said. “Even though you love your sport, it does not define who you are as a person.”
