Abby Langlois is a freshman outside hitter and middle blocker from Priceville, Alabama, and a 2026 graduate of Priceville High School. Langlois began playing volleyball in the seventh grade and continued developing into a versatile front-row player throughout her high school career.

One of her favorite high school athletic memories was winning the area championship during her senior season. The victory marked Priceville’s fourth consecutive area title and allowed Langlois to celebrate another championship with her teammates.

“Winning the area championship my senior year and making it a four-peat was one of my favorite memories,” Langlois said.

Langlois chose Wallace State because of the program’s coaching staff and the strong community surrounding Lions athletics.

She credits Wallace State assistant coach Emily Williams with having the greatest impact on her athletic journey. Williams’ guidance and encouragement helped Langlois earn the opportunity to continue her volleyball career at the college level.

Langlois’ proudest moment as a Wallace State athlete so far has been earning the chance to represent one of the region’s most recognizable and successful volleyball programs.

“Just being able to represent a well-known volleyball program is something I’m proud of,” Langlois said.

College athletics has reinforced the importance of discipline. Langlois understands that success requires consistency, responsibility and a willingness to continue working even when challenges arise.

She balances volleyball and academics by following a lesson her parents instilled in her at an early age: school must always come first.

“My parents taught me that academics always come first, so over the years I’ve learned to balance my lifestyle very well,” Langlois said. “If I don’t do well in school, I lose the opportunity to play.”

Her personal goal is to return stronger than she was before and continue improving her physical health. As a team, Langlois wants the Lions to compete for and win an NJCAA national championship.

Langlois enjoys working out in the weight room, especially on leg days. She views lifting as an opportunity to improve her strength and prepare for the physical demands of college volleyball.

Before matches, Langlois follows a pair of personal rituals. She always plays while wearing the same hair tie, and she makes sure to wear her retainer the night before each match.

Her go-to hype song is “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas.

Langlois mentally prepares for competition by praying before warmups. The routine helps her become focused and ready to play.

“I make sure I pray before warmups, and that helps me lock in and focus,” Langlois said.

She believes her teammates would describe her as talkative, energetic and someone who enjoys encouraging others. Langlois likes to be silly and bring positive energy to the floor, but she also understands when it is time to become serious and focused.

Had she not chosen volleyball, Langlois said she would likely play basketball.

Her favorite volleyball player is Laney Choboy because Langlois sees similarities in their energy and personalities while competing.

“I feel like she and I have the same energy and personality while playing volleyball,” Langlois said.

A fun fact about Langlois is that she knows every song from the entire “Pitch Perfect” movie.

Outside volleyball, she enjoys reading, sewing and playing pickleball.

After college, Langlois hopes to become an elementary school teacher. She would also like to coach volleyball one day and help younger athletes develop their skills and love for the game.

During her time at Wallace State, Langlois wants to be remembered more for her character and personality than her athletic accomplishments.

Her advice to younger athletes is to enjoy the experience and avoid allowing the pressure of competition to take away their love for the sport.

“Don’t forget that it’s just a sport,” Langlois said. “It’s supposed to be fun, not a chore.”
