Campbell Koch is a freshman setter from Good Hope, Alabama, and a 2026 graduate of Good Hope High School. Koch began playing volleyball in the fifth grade, approximately seven years before joining the Wallace State program.

One of her favorite high school athletic memories was helping Good Hope defeat White Plains in the regional tournament during her sophomore season.

Koch chose Wallace State because it allowed her to remain close to home while joining a well-coached and highly competitive volleyball program.

“I wanted to stay close to home and be part of a well-coached and competitive program,” Koch said.

She credits her parents with having the greatest impact on her athletic journey. Their belief in her and willingness to support her goals made it possible for Koch to continue pursuing volleyball at the college level.

“My parents have always believed in me and made it possible financially for me to achieve my goals,” Koch said.

Her proudest moment as a Wallace State athlete so far has been earning a place on the volleyball team. Koch is excited about the opportunity and looks forward to creating more memories with her teammates.

College athletics has reinforced the importance of hard work and perseverance. Koch believes those qualities helped her earn the opportunity to play college volleyball and will continue to guide her throughout her career.

She balances academics and athletics through careful time management. Koch makes a point to complete assignments early, especially before weeks featuring important matches.

Her personal goals are to develop strong relationships with her teammates and improve mentally and physically as a volleyball player. As a team, she hopes the Lions grow closer, compete at a high level and earn a trip to the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship in Iowa.

“I hope we can come together as a team and make it to Iowa,” Koch said.

Her favorite drill is completing 1,000 setting repetitions against a wall. The drill allows her to improve her technique, consistency and ball control.

Before matches, Koch prays and listens to the “Crime Junkie” podcast. Her go-to hype song is “Brokey” by Latto.

Koch mentally prepares for competition by giving herself at least 15 minutes to become completely focused. During that time, she prays and practices setting against a wall by herself.

She believes her teammates would describe her as a hard worker and a vocal supporter who can always be heard cheering them on.

Had she not chosen volleyball, Koch said she would likely play softball.

Her favorite athlete is Bergen Reilly. Koch admires how Reilly earned a starting role for a dominant college volleyball program as a freshman through talent, confidence and hard work.

“She proved that if you work hard, you can start for a dominating program even as a freshman,” Koch said.

A fun fact about Koch is that she is an only child and enjoys trivia.

Outside volleyball, she enjoys reading and doing her nails.

After college, Koch hopes to coach a club volleyball team and work as a materials engineer in the aerospace industry.

During her time at Wallace State, Koch wants to be remembered as a leader who worked hard and made a positive impact on the volleyball program, the college and the surrounding community.

Her advice to younger athletes is to appreciate every opportunity and the people who helped make it possible.

“Never take anything for granted, always show appreciation to those who helped you get there and always give 110 percent,” Koch said. “Hard work will get you farther than talent.”
