Aaliyah Harris is a freshman middle blocker from St. Petersburg, Florida, and a 2026 graduate of Northeast High School. Harris began playing volleyball in the eighth grade and continued developing her skills and love for the sport throughout high school.

One of her favorite high school athletic memories was having the opportunity to play alongside her best friend. Sharing the court with someone close to her made the experience more enjoyable and created memories that extended beyond wins and losses.

“Playing with my best friend is one of the things I will remember most,” Harris said.

Harris chose Wallace State because of the campus atmosphere and the support she felt from the volleyball coaching staff. She was impressed that the campus had the feel and resources of a university while still offering a welcoming environment.

“The campus almost feels like a university,” Harris said. “My coach is very passionate about me and the other girls on the team.”

She credits her father, her friend Lina and Lina’s mother with having the greatest impact on her athletic journey. Their encouragement and support helped Harris continue playing volleyball and pursue the opportunity to compete at the college level.

“I don’t think I would still be playing if it wasn’t for them,” Harris said.

As she begins her freshman season, Harris looks forward to continuing her development as a middle blocker, building relationships with her new teammates and contributing to Wallace State’s winning tradition. She hopes to make the most of the opportunity and create lasting memories as a member of the Lions’ volleyball program.
