Bio

Sophomore guard Sawyer Griffin adds a strong scoring presence to Wallace State’s lineup. A Huntsville native, Griffin began playing basketball at just 10 years old and has dedicated himself to the sport ever since. One of his favorite memories came during his time in Atlanta, living with teammates and bonding through basketball.

Griffin chose Wallace State because of the program’s style of play, outstanding facilities, supportive community, academic opportunities, and coaching staff. He credits his trainer, JayR Strowbridge, as one of the biggest influences on his development. His proudest moment so far came in helping Wallace win a conference championship, an accomplishment he hopes to repeat this season.

Balancing school and basketball, Griffin manages his schedule by finishing his assignments early and planning his days around responsibilities. His goals include earning multiple offers to continue playing at four-year schools and helping the Lions win another title.

Known for his energy and team-first approach, Griffin prepares for games with prayer, music—often “Webbie Flow” by Big Yavo—and a pregame candy ritual. Inspired by NBA guard Tyler Herro, Griffin hopes to play professional basketball and one day become an FBI agent.
