Jaeden Rush's Triple-Double Leads Wallace State to 102–88 Road Win at Lawson State
Birmingham, Ala. — Wallace State men's basketball turned in a strong offensive performance Thursday night, earning a 102–88 conference road victory at Lawson State to improve to 12–10 overall and 4–2 in conference play.
The Lions set the tone early and carried momentum into halftime, leading 49–41 behind a dominant first half from Viczavious Madden, who poured in 21 points before the break. Wallace State maintained control throughout the game by sharing the ball, knocking down shots from the perimeter and controlling the glass.
Wallace State finished the night with 21 assists on 35 made field goals, hit 15 three-pointers, and outrebounded Lawson State 45–37, consistently creating extra possessions and quality scoring opportunities.
Three Lions scored 20 or more points, led by Jaeden Rush, who recorded a triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists, along with a steal. Madden followed with 25 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while Sawyer Griffin added 20 points, connecting on six three-pointers while also pulling down five rebounds and recording a steal.
Tyson Barrett contributed a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, providing a steady interior presence on both ends of the floor. Kylen Clark finished with nine points, two rebounds, an assist, two steals and a block, while Tony Wilson added six points. Trey Knight chipped in five points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals, continuing to impact the game in multiple areas.
Devan Rush and Austin Davenport helped round out the rotation, with Davenport adding two rebounds and a block.
Lawson State was led by standout performer Keaton Cross, who finished with 42 points, nine rebounds and four assists, keeping the home team within striking distance for much of the night.
Despite Cross' big scoring night, Wallace State's balanced attack, perimeter shooting and rebounding advantage proved to be the difference as the Lions pulled away down the stretch to secure the 14-point road win.
