Wallace State Men Bounce Back With 108–87 Win Over Coastal Alabama–South
HANCEVILLE — Wallace State men's basketball responded in emphatic fashion Saturday, bouncing back from a conference loss earlier in the week with a 108–87 victory over visiting Coastal Alabama–South to improve to 11–9 overall and 3–1 in ACCC play.
The Lions set the tone early, building a 55–45 halftime lead behind strong first-half performances from Viczavious Madden and Sawyer Griffin. Madden scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the opening half, while Griffin knocked down five three-pointers on his way to 15 first-half points.
Wallace State kept the pressure on after the break, outscoring the Coyotes 53–42 in the second half to pull away for the 21-point win. Jaeden Rush and Tyson Barrett helped fuel the surge, each scoring 10 points in the second half as the Lions continued to push the pace and attack the glass.
Efficiency and balance defined the Lions' performance. Wallace State shot 52.8 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three-point range, while dominating the boards 51–30. The Lions recorded 19 assists on 38 made field goals, scored 14 second-chance points, and received a strong contribution from the bench, which accounted for 35 points. Six different players finished in double figures.
Griffin led all scorers with 24 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the field, while adding two rebounds and an assist. Madden posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds, along with three assists, two steals and two blocks. Barrett also recorded a double-double, finishing with 16 points, 13 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Trey Knight added 14 points, three rebounds, seven assists and a steal, while Rush contributed 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal. Kylen Clark rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points, five rebounds and a block.
Devan Rush chipped in five points, Tony Wilson added three points and a steal, and Austin Davenport finished with one point, three rebounds and an assist. Kohl Key also pulled down a rebound as Wallace State's depth was on full display.
With the win, Wallace State continues to build momentum as conference play rolls on, showing the balance, toughness and offensive firepower that has defined the Lions throughout the season.
