Lions softball has their sights set on another ACCC tournament championship
HANCEVILLE, AL | The ninth-ranked Wallace State Lions' softball team heads to Alabaster on Thursday as the top seed in the 2025 ACCC Softball Championship. They finished the regular season with a 46-11 record overall and 26-6 in conference play. The Lions are looking for their seventh tournament championship in the last nine years and 17th overall. They open play on Thursday at 2:30 pm against the winner of Northwest-Shoals and Coastal Alabama-South.
Southern Union (23-9) in conference play) is the second seed, followed by Coastal Alabama-South, Snead State, Northwest-Shoals, and Calhoun. The Lions finished 15-5 against this year's tournament field.
At the plate, Wallace State leads the conference with 365 runs scored, 506 hits, 328 RBI, and a league-low 171 strikeouts. They are second in doubles, triples, and walks, finishing third with 45 home runs and fifth in batting average at .314.
Individual leaders include Brooklyn Sertell, who leads the team with a .417 average, 16 home runs, and is second with 52 RBIs. Charli Kyser leads the team and conference with 85 RBIs. She is second on the team with a .363 average and eight home runs. Brandy Phillips leads the team with 26 stolen bases, while Kaelyn Jones is second with 21, despite missing a month due to injury.
Pitching has been the team's strength, with three players in the top six for wins. Madeline Howard and Ava Smith led the conference with 17 wins each, followed by Phillips with 11. Phillips leads the team with a 2.16 ERA, while Howard is second with a 2.38. Howard is second in the conference with 14 complete games.

The tournament will be played at Veterans Park in Alabaster, May 8-10.
