Sophomore Jacie Blackwood continues to grow as a key member of Wallace State’s women’s golf team. A graduate of Fairview High School, Blackwood began playing golf around the age of 10 and quickly developed a passion for the game. One of her earliest and proudest memories was chipping in for her first-ever birdie on hole 3 at Cross Creek. Later, she experienced another milestone by making her first eagle on hole 12 at the same course.

Blackwood chose Wallace State because it was close to home and offered her a full scholarship, providing her with the opportunity to pursue both her athletic and academic goals. She credits her father, Jason Blackwood, as the most influential figure in her journey, encouraging her to keep working hard and never give up.

Balancing academics and athletics is something she takes seriously, structuring her non-class days to complete assignments before afternoon practice. She focuses on improving her short game—particularly chipping and putting—and prepares for tournaments with prayer and positive affirmations, always aiming to make her parents proud.

Off the course, Blackwood enjoys pickleball and spending time with friends and her boyfriend. She plans to attend Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School and eventually open her own salon. She hopes to be remembered as someone who never gave up and worked hard to achieve her goals, advising others to persevere through difficult times, as challenges become easier with persistence.
