Wallace State cross country teams earn NJCAA All-Academic honors

Wallace State's men's and women's cross country programs were recognized for their work in the classroom following the 2025 season, with both teams earning NJCAA All-Academic Team honors.

The recognition was awarded by the All-Academic Board of the National Junior College Athletic Association Cross Country Coaches Association. Both Wallace State teams were honored for their scholastic achievements throughout the academic year.

The Lions and Lady Lions also combined to place eight runners on the Academic All-American list.

The Wallace State women's cross country team had five Academic All-Americans: Payton Ridley, Rachael Matthews, Ann Marie Land, Brookelyn Morgan and Hanna Sheffield.

The Wallace State men's cross country team had three Academic All-Americans: Tyler Arthony, Elliot Denard and Jack Wiggins.

Head coach Tony Crider said the honors reflected the program's commitment beyond competition.

"I am extremely proud of my teams," Crider said. "Not only do they excel on the course but also in the classroom."

The academic recognition added to a strong year for Wallace State cross country, which continued to represent the college at a high level in both athletics and academics.
