Wallace State’s Brookelyn Morgan Qualifies for NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State freshman runner Brookelyn Morgan has qualified for the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships after posting qualifying marks in both the 1,500-meter run and the 5,000-meter run.
Morgan will compete in the 5,000 meters at the national meet and will not run the 1,500 meters.
According to Wallace State head coach Tony Crider, Morgan becomes the first Wallace State athlete to qualify for the Outdoor Track and Field Championships since 1997, when the Lions won the team national championship.
"Brookelyn is an amazing runner with a big future ahead of her," Crider said. "But more than that is that she is even a better human being."
Morgan said she is grateful for the opportunity to compete on the national stage.
"I have been working hard and am very excited about making it to the national outdoor track championship," Morgan said. "The coaches and my teammates have really helped me prepare for this.
"I am so thankful for this opportunity."
The NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 14-16 at New Mexico Junior College.
