Wallace State Earns Multiple All-Americans, National Awards
SUMTER, S.C. — Wallace State's women's tennis program collected multiple national honors following its runner-up finish at the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
Elizabeth Standifer earned First Team All-American honors in singles play after winning the Flight 5 Singles National Championship.
Lydia Lichlyter was named a Second Team All-American following her runner-up finish in the Flight 4 Singles Championship match.
Wallace State also had two doubles teams recognized as Second Team All-Americans. The tandem of Jaedyn Martin and Lydia Lichlyter earned the honor after advancing to the Flight 2 doubles championship match. Elizabeth Standifer and Jayden Johnson were also named Second Team All-Americans after reaching the Flight 3 doubles finals.
In addition to the All-America honors, Wallace State received several individual national awards from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Madison Standifer was named the ITA Rookie of the Year and also received the National Championship Jovana Vasic Spirit of Competition Award.
Indira Wilson earned ITA Most Improved Sophomore honors.
The Lady Lions finished second overall at the NJCAA Division II National Championship with 39 points, the program's best national finish since 1999.
