Wallace State Women’s Tennis Set to Open NJCAA National Championship Pursuit

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Fresh off a dominant sweep of the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) tournament, the Wallace State Community College women's tennis team has arrived in Sumter, South Carolina, to begin play in the 2026 NJCAA Division II Women's Tennis National Championship.

The Lady Lions enter the national stage with one loss in dual-match record and top-three seeds in every flight across the singles and doubles draws. Competition is set to begin Saturday morning at the Palmetto Tennis Center, with the championship matches scheduled for Wednesday, May 6.

"This group has shown incredible focus and poise throughout this undefeated run," said the Lady Lions coaching staff. "Entering a national tournament with this many high seeds is a testament to their hard work, but the goal remains taking it one match at a time on the biggest stage."

Singles Draws

Wallace State is headlined by Elizabeth Standifer, who enters the No. 5 singles flight as the tournament's No. 1 overall seed. The Lady Lions also feature Lydia Lichlyter as the No. 2 seed in Flight 4. The remainder of the singles lineup—including ACCC Player of the Year Madison Standifer at the top flight—all hold No. 3 seeds, positioning the entire roster as legitimate title contenders.

Flight 1: Madison Standifer (#3 seed)

Flight 2: Jaedyn Martin (#3 seed)

Flight 3: Indira Wilson (#3 seed)

Flight 4: Lydia Lichlyter (#2 seed)

Flight 5: Elizabeth Standifer (#1 seed)

Flight 6: Jayden Johnson (#3 seed)

Doubles Draws

The Lady Lions' dominance in pairs play during the regular season has translated to prime positioning in the national brackets. The duo of Elizabeth Standifer and Jayden Johnson earned the No. 1 seed in Flight 3 doubles, while the tandems of Madison Standifer/Indira Wilson and Jaedyn Martin/Lydia Lichlyter both secured No. 2 seeds in their respective flights.

Flight 1: M. Standifer / Wilson (#2 seed)

Flight 2: Martin / Lichlyter (#2 seed)

Flight 3: E. Standifer / Johnson (#1 seed)

Tournament Outlook

The NJCAA Championship utilizes a flighted points system where every individual match victory contributes to the overall team score. With all nine entries seeded in the top three, Wallace State is positioned to challenge for the program's highest national finish in recent history.

Tournament Schedule:

Saturday – Tuesday: Opening Rounds through Semifinals
