KEEPING THE STREAK ALIVE: No. 10 Wallace State Lady Lions Defeat No. 20 Oxford College of Emory 8-1 at Jasper

JASPER, Ala. – The No. 10 Wallace State Lady Lions kept their undefeated season rolling with an 8-1 victory over No. 20 Oxford College of Emory on Saturday, March 21, in Jasper. Winning five of six singles courts and two of three doubles courts, Wallace State delivered another complete team performance to extend its perfect start to the season.

Wallace State secured two of three doubles courts to take the early advantage. Madison Standifer and Indira Wilson opened with an 8-5 victory over Blais and Artomiev on Court 1, while Jaedyn Martin and Lydia Lichlyter followed with an 8-6 win over He and Hague on Court 2. Oxford College of Emory earned its lone point of the match on Court 3, as Macaluso and Goldberg defeated Jayden Johnson and Savanna Privett, 8-4. Wallace State carried a 2-1 edge into singles and never looked back.

The Lady Lions won five of six singles courts to close out the match convincingly. Madison Standifer delivered the most dramatic performance of the day at Court 1, outlasting Rachel Blais in a hard-fought three-set battle that went to a match tiebreaker. Jaedyn Martin picked up a straight-set win over Artomiev at Court 2 to give Wallace State momentum. Indira Wilson was authoritative at Court 3, dispatching Hague 6-1, 6-2. Savanna Privett added a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Jennifer He at Court 4, and Lydia Lichlyter was equally efficient at Court 5, defeating Macaluso 6-1, 6-2. Jayden Johnson completed the sweep of the bottom half of the draw at Court 6, cruising past Gronberg 6-0, 6-1.

The 8-1 result showcases the balanced attack the Lady Lions carry across all six positions. From Standifer's gritty three-set win at the top of the lineup to Johnson's dominant performance at Court 6, Wallace State proved it can win matches in a variety of ways — making this squad one of the most complete in the NJCAA this spring.
