#12 Lady Lions Defeat #13 Coastal Alabama South 6-3
HANCEVILLE – The #12 Wallace State women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over #13 Coastal Alabama South on Feb. 20, using a dominant doubles performance and key singles wins to secure the home match. The Lady Lions set the tone early and maintained control throughout to claim the win.
Wallace State swept all three doubles courts to build early momentum, then followed with three singles victories to secure the team result.
Five Lady Lions contributed to the victory, led by Madison Standifer, Jaedyn Martin, and Lydia Lichlyter, who each earned wins in both doubles and singles competition.
Standifer and Wilson opened doubles play with an 8-0 victory on the top court. Martin and Lichlyter followed with an 8-2 win on court two, while Johnson and Elizabeth Standifer completed the sweep with an 8-5 victory on court three.
In singles play, Standifer led the way with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win on court one. Martin followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court two, while Lichlyter added a 6-3, 6-2 win on court five.
Coastal Alabama South picked up wins on courts three, four, and six, including a tightly contested three-set battle on court three.
