Wallace State Women’s Tennis Opens 2026 Season With 8–1 Road Win at Snead State
Boaz, Ala. — The Wallace State women's tennis team opened the 2026 season with an impressive performance on the road, earning an 8–1 victory over Snead State on Friday.
The Lions set the tone early by winning five of six singles matches and followed with a clean sweep in doubles play to secure the season-opening win.
Wallace State controlled singles competition, posting a 5–1 advantage. At No. 1 singles, Madison Standifer turned in a strong showing with a 6–1, 6–1 win. Jaedyn Martin followed at No. 2 with a 6–1, 6–2 victory, while Indira Wilson cruised to a 6–0, 6–1 decision at No. 3.
Lydia Lichlyter delivered a dominant performance at No. 4 singles, earning a 6–0, 6–0 win. Jayden Johnson added a 6–3, 6–0 victory at No. 5. At No. 6, Savanna Privett battled through three sets but fell in a hard-fought match, 6–2, 4–6, 10–4.
The Lions carried momentum into doubles play, where they completed a 3–0 sweep. The No. 1 doubles team of Martin and Standifer posted an 8–0 shutout, while Wilson and Lichlyter secured an 8–2 win at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Johnson and Privett closed out the match with an 8–0 victory.
The season-opening win showcased Wallace State's depth and balance across the lineup, as multiple players delivered convincing performances in both singles and doubles competition.
