Lady Lions Dominate Bishop State, 80-44, in Conference Clash
HANCEVILLE — The Wallace State Community College women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance Thursday night, rolling to an 80-44 conference victory over Bishop State at Traditions Bank Arena.
The Lady Lions controlled the game from start to finish, showcasing an efficient, balanced offensive attack while applying relentless defensive pressure. Wallace State shot 50.8 percent from the field and knocked down 41.7 percent from three-point range, consistently finding quality looks through crisp ball movement and unselfish play.
Zamyra Goode led the charge with a standout all-around performance, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Her ability to score efficiently and facilitate the offense set the tone early and kept Wallace State in rhythm throughout the night.
Kameron Sanders provided a strong inside presence with 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals, helping the Lady Lions control the paint. Sinaya Gibson added 12 points and four rebounds, continuing her efficient scoring, while Leah Childress and Taylor Smith each contributed 11 points, giving Wallace State multiple scoring threats.
The Lady Lions' depth and ball movement were key factors, as Wallace State recorded 20 assists on the night, including nine from Idaysia Mercer, who also added seven points. The team's ability to share the ball and limit turnovers, just 12, allowed them to maintain offensive flow and capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Defensively, Wallace State was equally dominant. The Lady Lions forced 19 turnovers and recorded nine steals, disrupting Bishop State's offensive rhythm and creating transition opportunities. That pressure limited Bishop State to just 32.7 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc.
On the glass, Wallace State controlled the boards with a 32-22 advantage, including eight offensive rebounds that led to second-chance points and extended possessions.
Additional contributions came from across the roster, with Heather Tetro adding three points, Nia Smith finishing with two points and two rebounds, and Bailey Tetro and Karma Wynn each contributing assists.
