LIONS ROLL ON: No. 8 Wallace State Men's Tennis Blanks No. 20 Oxford College of Emory 9-0 at Jasper

JASPER, Ala. – The No. 8 Wallace State Lions continued their dominant run through the spring schedule with a 9-0 shutout of No. 20 Oxford College of Emory on Saturday, March 21, in Jasper. Sweeping all three doubles courts and all six singles positions, Wallace State left no doubt in another complete performance that reinforces their standing as one of the NJCAA's premier programs this season.

Wallace State seized complete control in doubles, winning all three courts. William Johnson and Tom Kopf opened with a clinical 8-2 victory over Kurdyandik and Kussafly on Court 1. Luka Uzelac and Nikith Surapaneni matched that margin with an 8-2 win over Wu and Mura on Court 2. Emory was unable to field a complete lineup, conceding Court 3 by default and handing the Lions a clean doubles sweep heading into singles.

Singles play was equally commanding across all four contested courts. William Johnson opened at Court 1 in a hard-fought three-set battle against Michael Kurdyandik, dropping the first set before rallying to win the match tiebreaker and take the point for Wallace State. Nikith Surapaneni was the standout performer at Court 2, cruising past Alex Kussafly 6-0, 6-2 without facing a serious challenge. Matias Vargas delivered an authoritative performance at Court 3, defeating Ben Wu 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets. Gabriel Garrido completed the Lions' contested singles sweep with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Ryan Mura at Court 4. Emory was forced to concede Courts 5 and 6 by default, completing the 9-0 final.

The victory adds another quality win to an already impressive resume for Wallace State. The Lions' ability to put points on the board from top to bottom — with Surapaneni, Vargas and Garrido all winning in dominant fashion — reflects a depth that few programs in the NJCAA can match. With the result, Wallace State continues its pursuit of an undefeated season.
