TOTAL DOMINATION: No. 8 Wallace State Men's Tennis Blanks Coastal Alabama North 9-0 to Move to 12-0

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Two days after a hard-fought 5-4 road win at No. 11 Coastal Alabama South, the No. 8 Wallace State Lions showed no signs of fatigue. The Lions overwhelmed Coastal Alabama North 9-0 on Saturday, March 14, sweeping every contested court in doubles and singles to improve to 12-0 on the season and reinforce their status as one of the NJCAA's elite programs.

Wallace State wasted no time establishing command. Francois Van Wyk and Matias Vargas opened with a dominant 8-0 shutout over Prine and Davis on Court 1, while Nikith Surapaneni and Luka Uzelac matched that performance with an 8-0 victory over Wheelock and Rodriguez on Court 2. Coastal North was unable to field a full lineup, conceding Court 3 by default, giving the Lions a clean doubles sweep before a singles ball was struck.

Singles play was equally one-sided. Van Wyk opened on Court 1 with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance against Prine, setting the tone for what followed. Uzelac continued his strong week with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Davis on Court 2. Surapaneni was equally dominant at Court 3, dispatching Wheelock 6-0, 6-0. Vargas closed out the Lions' four contested singles wins with a 6-0, 6-0 dismantling of Rodriguez on Court 4. Coastal North was forced to concede Courts 5 and 6 by default, completing the 9-0 final.

The shutout is a reflection of the Lions' depth and consistency — Van Wyk, Surapaneni, Uzelac and Vargas each delivered dominant straight-set wins without surrendering a single game across their combined eight sets of singles play. With the victory, Wallace State has now won 12 consecutive matches to open the season, outscoring opponents across every court of the lineup.
