RAIN CAN'T STOP THE LIONS: Wallace State Men's Tennis Weathers Delay, Tops Copiah-Lincoln 8-1 to Stay Perfect at 10-0

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – A rain delay couldn't slow the Wallace State Lions. Forced to pause Friday and resume Saturday at Bevill State, the Wallace State men's tennis team completed an 8-1 victory over Copiah-Lincoln Community College (MS) to remain undefeated at 10-0 on the season. The Lions dominated from the opening doubles point, then won five of six singles courts to make the extended weekend a productive one.

Wallace State established control early by sweeping all three doubles courts. Alexander Grube and Francois Van Wyk opened with an 8-5 victory on Court 1. The duo of Angel Gautier and Nikith Surapaneni matched that result with an 8-5 win on Court 2. Will Johnson and Matias Vargas closed out the doubles round in emphatic fashion, rolling past Rooks and Breland 8-3 on Court 3. The clean doubles sweep gave the Lions early momentum heading into singles — momentum they never surrendered.

Singles play saw the Lions roll through five courts without dropping a set. Grube set the tone on Court 1 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Tozer. Luke Uzelac delivered the most dominant performance of the day on Court 3, dismantling Rooks 6-0, 6-0. Johnson continued his strong weekend with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Brand on Court 4, while Vargas posted a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Breland on Court 5. Surapaneni capped the victory in authoritative fashion on Court 6, defeating Lucio 6-0, 6-1. Copiah-Lincoln's lone point came on Court 2, where Bucek defeated Van Wyk in straight sets.

Uzelac's dominant 6-0, 6-0 performance at Court 3 was one of several that underscored just how deep the Lions' lineup runs. With contributions up and down the draw — from Grube at the top to Surapaneni at six — Wallace State continues to demonstrate the balance that has made it one of the most formidable programs in the NJCAA this spring.
