#8 Lions Sweep Central Alabama 9-0
HANCEVILLE – The Wallace State men's tennis team turned in a dominant performance with a 9-0 victory over Central Alabama, controlling the match from start to finish with sweeps in both doubles and singles play.
The Lions set the tone early by winning all three doubles courts, then carried that momentum into singles action with six straight victories to complete the shutout.
Wallace State's doubles teams wasted little time establishing control. Alexander Grube and Nikith Surapaneni opened with an 8-0 victory on the top court. Will Johnson and Gabriel Garrido followed with an 8-1 win, while Matias Vargas and Cameron Griffin secured the sweep with an 8-5 victory.
In singles play, the Lions were equally dominant. Grube led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court one. Surapaneni followed with a straight-set victory on court two. Johnson added another point in straight sets on court three, while Vargas delivered a 6-0, 6-0 performance on court four. Garrido and Artur Belius rounded out the sweep with convincing straight-set wins on courts five and six.
With the victory, Wallace State continues to showcase its depth and balance throughout the lineup as the Lions build momentum heading deeper into conference play.
