#8 Wallace State Edges #11 Coastal Alabama South 5-4 in Tight Home Match

HANCEVILLE – The #8 Wallace State men's tennis team battled its way to a hard-fought 5-4 victory over #11 Coastal Alabama South, using a strong doubles performance and key singles wins to secure the narrow home victory. The Lions controlled the early momentum and held on late to claim the match.

Wallace State earned the crucial doubles point by winning two of three courts, setting the tone for a competitive singles session. The Lions then captured four singles victories, including a key win on the final court to seal the match.

Four Lions recorded singles victories, led by Alexander Grube and Angel Gautier, who each picked up wins at the top of the lineup. Luka Uzelac added another point with a steady performance, while Tom Kopf delivered a pivotal win on court six to help clinch the team victory.

Gautier and Grube opened doubles play with an 8-2 victory over David Gimenez and Alvaro Velasco on the top court. Francois Van Wyk and Kopf dropped a close 8-6 decision on court two and a loss on court three.

In singles play, Grube led off with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win on court one. Gautier followed with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory on court two, while Uzelac added a 6-4, 6-3 win on court five. Kopf proved to be the difference-maker, earning a 6-4, 6-4 win on court six to help secure the match.

Coastal Alabama South picked up wins on courts three and four, including a tightly contested three-set battle on court four.
