No. 8 Wallace State Sweeps Gadsden State 9-0 at Home
HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The No. 8 Wallace State men's tennis team continued its dominant run with a 9-0 victory over Gadsden State at home on Monday. The Lions controlled every aspect of the match, sweeping both doubles and singles play to secure the shutout win.
Wallace State set the tone early by claiming all three doubles courts in decisive fashion, then carried that momentum into singles play with six straight victories to complete the sweep.
Six Lions recorded wins on the day, led by Jean Badenhorst and Nikith Surapaneni, who each earned victories in both doubles and singles competition. Gabriel Garrido and Matias Vargas also contributed with wins across both formats, while Angel Gautier, Alexander Grube, Luka Uzelac, and Will Johnson added strong performances to round out the team effort.
Gautier and Grube opened doubles play with a dominant 8-0 victory on the top court. Badenhorst and Surapaneni followed with an 8-1 win on court two, while Garrido and Vargas completed the sweep with an 8-1 victory on court three.
In singles action, Uzelac led the way with a 6-0, 6-1 win on court one. Badenhorst followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory on court two, and Surapaneni added a 6-3, 6-1 win on court three. Johnson delivered a 6-0, 6-1 result on court four, while Garrido earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court five. Vargas capped the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court six.
