Wallace State Wins Tiger Town Showdown Championship at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. — Wallace State completed a perfect inaugural season on Saturday, defeating Clemson 13-12 in the championship game of the Tiger Town Showdown at Nettles Park.

The Lady Lions finished the year 26-0 after going 4-0 in the tournament hosted by Clemson University. Wallace State opened pool play with a 67-0 win over NC State before defeating Clemson 39-18 to earn the top seed for bracket play. The Lady Lions then defeated Coastal Carolina 58-0 in the semifinals before holding off a late Clemson rally in the championship game.

Wallace State 67, NC State 0

Wallace State dominated NC State in its tournament opener, outgaining the Wolfpack 408-147 and forcing six interceptions in a 67-0 victory.

Emma Kile completed 19-of-25 passes for 322 yards and six touchdowns. Destinee Ealy caught six passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns, while Taylor Kindred added seven receptions for 141 yards and three touchdowns. Telecia Ransom finished with five catches for 97 yards and four touchdowns.

Defensively, Wallace State forced six turnovers. Ealy, Ransom and Kindred each recorded two interceptions.

Wallace State 39, Clemson 18

The Lady Lions followed with a 39-18 win over Clemson in pool play. Wallace State totaled 288 yards and forced two turnovers.

Kile completed 21-of-34 passes for 230 yards and five touchdowns. Kindred caught four passes for 47 yards and two touchdowns, while Mariah Ragland added five receptions for 42 yards and a score. Ransom had three catches for 52 yards and a touchdown, and Ma'Kyla Williams and Maggie Patterson each added touchdown receptions.

Ransom recorded two interceptions on defense, while Carley Paschal had two sacks and Romajah Walton added a sack.

Wallace State 58, Coastal Carolina 0

Wallace State rolled through Coastal Carolina in the semifinals, posting a 58-0 shutout.

Kile completed all 12 of her pass attempts for 157 yards and six touchdowns. Ragland caught four passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns, while Kindred had four receptions for 28 yards and three touchdowns. Williams added two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown, and Ransom had a touchdown reception.

The Lady Lions forced two interceptions in the shutout win. Kindred had two interceptions, while Ealy and Ransom each added one.

Wallace State 13, Clemson 12

In the championship game, Wallace State edged Clemson 13-12 in a defensive battle. The Lady Lions outgained Clemson 181-148 and held the Tigers to 11-of-31 passing.

Kile completed 22-of-36 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Ragland caught two passes for 15 yards and a touchdown, while Ransom added three catches for 12 yards and a score. Kindred finished with six receptions for 67 yards, and Williams had four catches for 82 yards.

Defensively, Ransom and Tedriona Carnahan each had an interception, while Williams added a sack. Ealy recorded two tackles in the title game.

Clemson scored late to pull within one point, but Wallace State held on to secure the tournament title and complete an undefeated first season.

Emma Kile: Combined for 878 passing yards and 19 touchdown passes during the tournament.

Taylor Kindred: 21 receptions, 283 receiving yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions during the tournament.

Telecia Ransom: 12 receptions, 179 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions.

Destinee Ealy: 17 receptions, 232 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Mariah Ragland: 12 receptions, 117 yards and four touchdowns.
