Wallace State Survives Triple-OT Thriller to Advance to ACCC Championship Game

Wallace State Survives Triple-OT Thriller to Advance to ACCC Championship Game

Lions defeat Snead State 33–32 in an instant classic in Dothan

DOTHAN — In one of the most dramatic and unforgettable games of the inaugural ACCC flag football season, top-seeded Wallace State survived a heart-pounding three-overtime battle to defeat Snead State 33–32 in the semifinals of the ACCC Championships at Rip Hewes Stadium. With the victory, the undefeated Lions (19–0) advance to Sunday's title game, where they will face third-seeded Shelton State, which upset Calhoun 12–6 in overtime.

The Lions wasted no time setting the tone, thanks to a defensive spark from Mariah Ragland. The freshman playmaker tipped a Parsons pass into the air, secured it, and raced into the end zone for a pick-six and a 6–0 Wallace lead. Snead State answered early in the second quarter with a 2-yard touchdown pass to even the score at 6–6.

Wallace regained momentum late in the first half. After forcing a Snead punt, Emma Kile connected with Telecia Ransom on a perfectly placed 36-yard touchdown strike, giving the Lions a 13–6 advantage at the break.

Snead State capitalized on a Wallace turnover on downs to open the third quarter, marching 17 yards in two plays to tie the game 13–13. But Kile and the Lions responded immediately, driving 66 yards before the sophomore quarterback fired a 30-yard touchdown pass to Ma'Kyla Williams to put Wallace ahead 19–13 late in the third.

The Parsons refused to go away. With under 30 seconds remaining in regulation, Snead State completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 19–19. Their failed conversion sent the semifinal into overtime and into Wallace State history.

The first overtime was a defensive showcase. After Snead picked off a Wallace pass, the Parsons reached the 1-yard line. But the Lions defense held firm, stuffing two attempts before Takyla Carr came up with a clutch goal-line interception to keep Wallace's season alive.

Snead opened the second overtime with a fourth-down touchdown to take a 26–19 lead, but the Lions answered. Kile found Taylor Kindred for a 7-yard score, then connected with her again for the conversion to force a third overtime, tied 27–27.

In the third frame, Kile muscled her way in on a 4-yard run to give Wallace a 32–26 lead, then hit Destiny Ealy for the extra point. Snead State scored again on fourth down, but with the game hanging in the balance, Kindred stepped in front of the conversion pass in the end zone, securing a 33–32 win and erupting the Lions' sideline in celebration.

Wallace finished with 270 yards of total offense, including 230 yards through the air. Kile delivered yet another standout performance, throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score. Kindred hauled in 11 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, Ransom added 72 yards and a score, and Williams contributed 36 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Carr led the way with two interceptions, while Ragland and Jayla Rudolph each grabbed one.

The Lions will play for the ACCC Championship on Sunday at 2 p.m., looking to cap their undefeated season with the program's first conference title.
