Wallace State Flag Football Dominates Northwest-Shoals with 52-0, 61-13 Road Sweep

FLORENCE — Wallace State flag football continued its undefeated season in emphatic fashion on Sunday, rolling to a pair of commanding victories over Northwest-Shoals, winning 52-0 in Game 1 and 61-13 in Game 2. The Lions improved to 16-0 on the season behind explosive offensive execution and a defensive performance that allowed just 295 total yards across both games.

Game 1: Lions Control from the Start

Wallace State wasted no time asserting control in the opener. On the Lions' first possession, Emma Kile found Mariah Ragland for a 20-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0. The duo connected again for a 39-yard score and then a 20-yard strike late in the first quarter, pushing the lead to 20-0 as Ragland accounted for the first three touchdowns of the game.

Late in the second quarter, the Lions shifted momentum to another playmaker as Kile hit Taylor Kindred for an 8-yard touchdown and a 27-0 lead. After a defensive stop, Kindred returned a punt 40 yards to the end zone to give Wallace State a 33-0 advantage at halftime.

Ragland opened the second half with a 20-yard touchdown run, and the Lions' defense continued to smother Northwest-Shoals. Ma'Kyla "Toot" Williams recorded a key sack to force another punt, setting up a 37-yard Kile-to-Kindred touchdown to begin the fourth quarter. Ragland capped the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run, sealing the 52-0 victory.

Game 2: Lions Counter Early Punch, Then Pull Away

In Game 2, Wallace State again struck first, as Kile connected with Destinee Ealy for a 32-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead. After Northwest-Shoals tied the game with a long touchdown, Ragland responded with a 36-yard scoring run to swing momentum back to the Lions.

Following a Zinaya Mitchell interception, Kile found Williams for an 11-yard touchdown pass to make it 20-6. Northwest-Shoals answered with another explosive play to cut the lead to 20-13, but Wallace State responded with a decisive scoring burst to close the half. Kile hit Kindred for a 45-yard touchdown and later connected with Ragland for a 3-yard score to give the Lions a 34-13 halftime lead.

Wallace State opened the second half with a 10-yard touchdown run by Ragland, followed by a 30-yard Kile-to-Kindred touchdown. Ragland then intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards to the end zone to extend the lead to 54-13. Kile and Ragland capped the day with a 7-yard touchdown connection, finalizing the 61-13 win.
