Wallace State Flag Football Rolls Past Northwest Shoals 77-6 in Game 1

Wallace State flag football left no doubt on Wednesday afternoon, dominating from start to finish in a 77-6 conference win over Northwest Shoals in Game 1 at home.

The Lions struck quickly, scoring on their second play of the game when quarterback Emma Kile found Taylor Kindred for a 10-yard touchdown pass. After a successful two-point conversion, Wallace led 8-0. Minutes later, Kile connected with Telecia Ransom on a 45-yard scoring strike to extend the advantage to 14-0.

The offensive fireworks continued early in the second quarter when Kile delivered a 5-yard touchdown pass to Maggie Patterson, and on the next possession, Mariah Ragland broke free for a 45-yard touchdown run, stretching the lead to 27-0. Northwest Shoals answered with a short touchdown pass to cut the margin to 27-6, but Wallace responded immediately. Kile and Ransom connected again, this time from 39 yards out, and after the conversion, the Lions led 35-6.

The defense joined the scoring party when Kindred intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 43-6. Kile added a 4-yard touchdown run just before halftime, sending Wallace into the break ahead 51-6.

Wallace State picked up right where it left off in the second half. On the second play of the third quarter, Kile and Ragland hooked up for a 58-yard touchdown. Following a Takyla Carr interception, Kile and Ragland connected again on a 30-yard score to extend the lead to 63-6.

The Lions kept rolling in the fourth quarter. Kindred's second interception of the game set up another Kile-to-Patterson touchdown, this one from 10 yards out. Patterson added her third touchdown reception of the game on the final play, a 7-yard strike from Kile that capped the scoring at 77-6.

Kile turned in a spectacular performance, finishing 18-of-20 passing for 311 yards and eight touchdowns, while also rushing for a score. Ransom hauled in four passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Ragland added three receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 52 rushing yards and a score on two carries. Kindred contributed three receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown, while also recording two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

With the victory, Wallace State showcased both its offensive firepower and defensive playmaking, cementing its place as one of the top teams in the conference.
