Chad Shannon accepted the position as Wallace State’s assistant baseball coach after the 2014 season and currently serves as the team’s pitching coach.
Shannon, a Cullman High graduate, came to Wallace State after a successful high school coaching run at Tuscaloosa County and Vinemont. Shannon became the head coach at Tuscaloosa County in 2005 and stayed with the Wildcats until 2010. He then returned to Cullman County, inheriting the Vinemont post in 2011. In four seasons, Shannon led the Eagles to 78 wins, a pair of area tournament titles, a Cullman County championship (2012) and set plenty of school firsts and state marks along the way. He also coached Izaac Yarbrough, who was the school’s first AHSAA Class 3A Player of the Year. Yarbrough now pitches at Auburn University after spending one season at Wallace State.
